Paw Health is about promoting the health and wellbeing of companion pets (dogs and cats) through good nutrition in the form of a raw food diet.

Just like humans, pets are also unique and each will have their own special requirements.

For these reasons, I will customise an easy to follow food plan specifically for the needs of your pet that works within your lifestyle!

Transition Diet…

The first and foremost part of the consult, required for all adult dogs and cats, including older puppies and kittens (closer to adulthood).

The 10 day transition diet usually allows enough time for your pet to become accustomed to the taste of raw food without disrupting the digestive system, especially if your pets diet is predominately commercial food (including home cooked diets). Your pet will need time to wean off the many artificial flavours found in commercial pet food (similar to weaning off a junk food addiction) as well as allowing the gastric acidity in your pets stomach to normalise.

Just like us, pets also have their unique personalities and circumstances and there may be some challenges. For example, a pet with digestive issues may take longer than 10 days to transition to the new diet whereas some pets will accept and handle the raw food from the beginning. All scenarios are completely normal and some pets just need a little patience and understanding. So you don’t get stressed, I will provide a step by step guide on how to do this. Whatever the issue, we will get there in the end!

A brief overview of what you will receive:

·         Personal home visit

·         Full review of your pet

·         Customised 10 day transition diet (emailed to you after consult)

Once your pet is accepting the food and is eating predominately raw, it is now time to implement a customised diet for life based on the needs of your pet. I offer the below consultations (please note, an additional cost will apply):

·         Healthy Pets

·         Overweight Pets

·         Puppies & Kittens

·         Health Issues

Disclaimer: all diagnosis must be performed by your veterinarian as they are the specialist in this area. My role as a companion pet nutritionist is to evaluate the nutritional requirements of your dog or cat

Please ensure you read the Consultation Conditions prior to booking a consult for your pet

Healthy Pets…

After successful completion of the 10 day transition diet, it is now time to implement a customised raw food diet for life.

Designed for adult dogs and cats from the age of 12 months (larger and giant breed dogs reach maturity at 18 months, so they would form part of this consult from that age).

Your healthy pet is free from disease (no heart or kidney disease, diabetes or arthritis), usually young (but also includes healthy senior pets too), isn’t taking any medication and can handle dietary changes quite well. Because your pet is full of energy, bright, alert and active, we want this healthy state to continue well into the senior years by avoiding many of the common diseases that plague our pets today.

A brief overview of what you will receive:

  • Personal home visit
  • A finalised diet plan customised for your pet (emailed to you after consult)
  • Tips on keeping your pet at their ideal weight for life
  • A follow up call after 4 weeks to ensure everything is running smoothly

About Annie…

About Annie

Welcome all pet lovers. Here is a little bit of information about me and why I want to help your pet live a healthy and happy life…

Animals are very special to me and I can’t remember a time when I didn’t have a beautiful dog or cat by my side. More than just a pet, they are my furry children.

Paw Health was born from my own personal journey with health issues. I was in a stressful corporate role working long hours and didn’t have the time to look after my diet. As a result I became quite ill and it took me a few months to get back on my feet again. As the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates once said “let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food’, I went back to basics and applied this philosophy into my own healing journey, a journey that ignited a little spark within me.

My pets had also suffered with health related issues from what I now know to be a direct result of poor nutrition. Expensive vet treatment for painful dental disease had three of my cats lose most of their precious teeth. They suffered from allergies and were also overweight. This made me very determined to get my pets off their highly processed and addictive commercial pet food diet.  But like so many pet owners, I just didn’t know how so this led me on a mission to find out more information about the best nutrition for pets.

For the next couple of years I studied herbs and nutrition for companion pets and became a qualified pet nutritionist. I have a Certificate in both Nutrition and Herbal Medicine for Companion Pets completed at the National College of Traditional Medicine. I am a member of the Small Animal and Equine Naturopathic Association (SAENA).

With my knowledge, I have successfully transitioned my own pets to a biological appropriate raw food diet and have also helped friends and family with their own pets, all with very positive results. I want to do the same for your pets too and I am really excited about helping you achieve this goal.

With your pets unconditional love in return, they definitely deserve to reap the wonderful rewards a raw pet food diet has to offer.

Complete & Balanced Meal? Yes! At Every Meal Time? No!

It is extremely important to feed your pet a complete and balanced diet so that their nutritional needs are met. But most of you may be surprised to know that the key is to not provide this at each meal. As long as your pet receives what he/she needs over a period of...
